JOGO Therapy

JOGO Biofeedback works on the science of ElectroMyoGraphy (EMG). The sensors pick up electrical signals generated by muscles and transmit the same via Bluetooth to a Tablet PC. The Tablet provides an audio-visual output which helps the user to understand how their muscle is performing in ‘Real Time’.

The awareness of how one’s muscle is working helps the person to learn to control it by the learning principle called OPERANT CONDITIONING. Simply put, operant conditioning means learning by TRIAL AND ERROR. We try to do something, we make mistakes, and we learn from those mistakes and avoid repeating the same mistakes. This leads us to the path of discovery, and eventually, we learn what is the right way! This applies to learning a new movement or re-learning a lost movement (following a stroke).

JOGO Biofeedback empowers individuals suffering from various neuromuscular disorders by aiding them in executing a range of muscle movements.

  • Strengthen a muscle e.g. for poor hand function, poor swallowing
  • Relax a muscle e.g. for overactive muscles, tension headache
  • Graded control e.g. dystonia
  • Coordination e.g. ataxia

JOGO detects and interprets the electrical signals produced by muscle activity but does not actively induce or influence any muscle movement. This way, the effort comes from the patient, so the learning and the effects last longer. The patient is no longer passive during the treatment and has to completely take charge of their body.

JOGO Biofeedback enables the person with a variety of neuromuscular disorders to perform a variety of muscle actions.

  • Strengthen a muscle e.g. for poor hand function, poor swallowing
  • Relax a muscle e.g. for overactive muscles, tension headache
  • Graded control e.g. dystonia
  • Coordination e.g. ataxia

JOGO just picks up signals generated by the muscles and does not stimulate the muscle. This way, the effort comes from the patient and so the learning and the effects last long. The patient is no longer passive during the treatment and has to completely take charge of their body.

JOGO Biofeedback for stress urinary incontinence

The pelvic floor muscles (PFM) are a group of muscles that play an important role in bladder control. Weakness or dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles can lead to problems with the bladder, causing urinary incontinence.

Biofeedback therapy uses graphs and audible tones to show you the specific muscles you are engaging during the exercise. Since you cannot see the pelvic floor muscles, you may find it difficult to activate them without using your abs. This may sound too simple, but it is not that easy. JOGO helps you to precisely identify which muscle is working and how much! Perhaps you are uncertain whether you are doing the pelvic muscle exercises correctly. This is where biofeedback can help. It is a teaching tool to help you learn to control and strengthen the pelvic floor area.

It also allows the therapist to measure your muscle strength and individualise your exercise program. This process doesn't physically affect your muscles in any way.

Sensors are placed using surface electrodes/probes in your pelvic floor muscles. Another set of sensors is placed across the abdomen. The sensors are connected to a tab screen, displaying a graph of your muscles as they are being exercised.

Many individuals perform Kegel exercises incorrectly, often inadvertently engaging their abdominal muscles instead of their pelvic floor muscles. In response to this common mistake, the abdominal sensors display a graph indicating when these incorrect muscles are being utilised. Furthermore, these graphs help measure your progress, demonstrating the increase in muscle strength across successive biofeedback sessions.

JOGO biofeedback for Dystonia

Inappropriate muscle activation and co-contraction are important symptoms of dystonia. Clinical interventions are often targeted to reduce excess muscle activation. JOGO Biofeedback lends itself to this objective by facilitating the voluntary reduction of muscle activation.

With dystonia, muscle spasms may be caused by neurological overstimulation and muscle fatigue. Working with a biofeedback therapist may promote relaxation, decrease muscle spasms and improve motor function. In conditions like dystonia, LESS IS MORE! In other words, the less the muscle activation (relaxed muscle), the better the movement control.

JOGO biofeedback may allow patients to learn how to use their affected limbs more effectively. Precise feedback helps patients learn how to control these muscles.

I had been suffering from voiding dysfunction, pelvic pain and back pain from years. I got to know about Jogo from my doctor. Under the guidance of Dr Uma & Adithi, I went through pelvic relaxation online sessions. I was greatly benefitted by the sessions. I appreciate their in depth knowledge of the subject and way to connect with the patient. Adithi you are awesome, I know the challenges of online sessions, but you did a great job in explaining everything in detail until I got it right. I believe, when it comes to excercise, the consistency and getting it right matters a lot. Thanks Adithi for helping me and keep doing the good work!! I recommend Jogo to people having similar issues.

I had an appointment at K.S. Hospital for some other issue and asked Doctor about Urinary incontinence. Dr. told me about JOGO Clinic and Mrs.Deepika Ma'am. I really thank God that i got a sincere, passionate, dedicated and truly caring trainer. Deepika Ma'am has explained clearly about how the muscles are working, what is the issue, what exercises we are going to do to strengthen the muscles. She fixes the timings in advance for the each session and gives the reminder message on previous day. She followups regularly to confirm whether we do the exercises at home and update the health status. I felt very comfortable with her since she is quite reachable for any Questions at any time. I am happy to share that able to achieve the expectation and no fear during sneezing and coughing. Deepika Ma'am is very kind, friendly and strict in her therapy, she analyzes the problem in unique manner and gives the solution. THANKS A LOT Ma'am. Few of the sessions were handled by Rizwana Madam. She taught the exercises for my leg pain and gave dietary advice. Thank you Rizwana. I strongly recommend JOGO for those who have this issue, visit here and get the benefits with out any surgery. Thanks again to JOGO and Mrs.Deepika Ma'am.
